The closed container is used as a platform to distill ideas of personal identity and place. Furthermore, the container is an archetype to investigate these ideas within the design, making and transformative processes, that is, the visual translation and alchemy of the metal. Addressing; birthplace on a refugee camp, living in multicultural Sydney representing Chinese, Vietnamese and Ango-European influences. The location of these geographies of inhabiting and not inhabiting are underlying themes. This conversion in material language can establish alternate perspectives in understanding identity, space and location within the global contemporary dialogue.
