Re-ConFloral Series | 2024

Re-ConFloral Series
Sterling Silver, Shakuo, Stainless Steel

IDENTITIES IN METAL
Alister Yiap Gallery part of the Jewellery and Metalsmith Group of Australia National Conference Program and Indian Ocean Craft Triennial Festival
26 September - 6 October 2024.

NATIONAL CONTEMPORARY JEWELLERY AWARD Finalist
Griffith Regional Art Gallery
8 November - 22 December 2024

The series of works in this jewellery collection of pendants and brooches explores ideas of living in-between expressed through a graphic and jewellery design making process. Floral graphic language is employed as a method and metaphor to articulate living cross culturally as a diasporic Southeast Asian-Australian.

These visual identities are made from silver which utilises the synthesis of graphic animation, laser cutting, lost wax cutting and hand fabrication to achieve the outcomes. The synthesis of this methodology in the making inspired a series of jewellery pendants and brooches in motion, capturing the graphic line works re-configured. The overlapping and continuity blur the visibility of the graphic creating new patterns and meanings.
